Basil purple is a super herb and its dark purple colored leaves provide a good contrast in the herb garden. Its clove like spicy flavor, distinct aroma and individualistic charm makes it a favorite ingredient in pesto. Overwatering would make it lose its flavor. It traps all its flavors in its leaves. It is recommended to pick the leaves before watering to get the intense flavor. If refrigerated, it may wilt and turn black. It is highly aromatic and if added in vinegar it lends a beautiful purple colour.
